Local Business or Place page

This type of Facebook page is for bricks-and-mortar businesses. Choose this type only if you truly have a local, open to the public type of business. It is ideal for businesses that conduct business in a particular location such as spas, psychology clinics, or hair salons etc.You can see 39 categories of choices, choose one of these categories to create a Page, or if none of the categories fits your business, you can choose the Local Business category and go from there and add your business details. You can create a local page for a restaurant, retail business or hotel.

Company/Organization or institution page

If your business have more than one location which may have a variety of addresses and open hours (such as a franchise); then Company Organization or Institution is usually the better Facebook page type to choose compared to Local Business or Place. I meant for large organizations like Ford, United States Postal Service, or the American Mental Health Counselors Association. This page serves as a place for corporate messages from headquarters.

Brand or Product page

Choose Brand or Product if your Facebook page represents something that is sold through a variety of retailers. It’s a good option if you don’t need to designate a physical address. This type of Facebook page is ideal for promoting products, services or brands that do not have a physical location such as Coca-Cola, a particular book, or a freelance massage therapist.

Artist, brand or Public Figure page

Choose Artist, Band or Public Figure if your page represents an individual such as a politician or a celebrity. This is also a good option if you want to market yourself separately from your Facebook personal profile. It works for professionals who promote themselves as their brands such as authors, business consultants, life coaches, or actors.

Entertainment page

An "Entertainment" page enables you to create a Facebook presence for a specific album, book or TV show. This page type differs from the "Artist, Band, or Public Figure" page type in that you create a page for a specific product or event rather than for an individual or group. For example, you could create a page for a band and additional pages for each of its albums. This page is best for magazines, theatrical performances, concert tours, radio or television shows

Cause or community page

If you don't have the authorization to create a Facebook page for a business or organization, you can create a page using the "Cause or Community" page type. This type works well if you want to develop a Facebook community for a topic unrelated to a specific business, such as Italian cooking, ballroom dancing or bungee jumping.

You can also create a page for a cause you support. To create a page for a registered nonprofit, however, select "Company, Organization, or Institution" instead of "Cause or Community". This page is best for promoting a cause or idea like not buying plastic water bottles, overcoming anxiety and depression, or health advantages of meditation.
